Ways to Focus and Concentrate

The human brain is considered to be the most powerful organ in the body as it can remember, focus, dream, manipulate, make decisions, etc. But how many of us make proper use of our brain? We all have wandering thoughts and always feel bad and regret that we do not have much concentration. But let’s not worry about it anymore, as here we have wonderful techniques to focus to be a winner.

Methods to Increase Focus and Concentration

There are many ways to focus, and some of the most important ones are listed below. They are:

1. Meditation

Meditation is the cheapest and the most effective way of focusing. Sit down in “Padmaasana” position and start breathing in from one nostril and breathe out through the other nostril and then try to focus on any image. If there is belief in God, we can try to imagine god’s figure or anyone who is close to our heart. Try to bring in the image with the eyes closed and focus on the image for at least 20 to 30 minutes at a stretch and when we open our eyes, we would definitely be a better individual. To begin with we can start with a few-minute meditation and then gradually increase the meditation timing.

2. Say No Multitasking

Multitasking is another popular way of getting distracted and not focusing on one work at a time. This happens especially to children when they sit for food. There will be so many distractions happening in their mind that they do not focus on the food they have to eat. Even adults too, multitask like walking and talking, bathing and singing, etc. If any work is done with other distractions, it will not be done efficiently. So please stop multitasking attitude and focus on one work at a time so that we can achieve at least 60% efficiency in the work that we do.

3. Explore and Find Your Favorable Environment

We all have our own favorite environments for focusing and concentrating. There are people who would want complete pin drop silence for focusing whereas some would prefer soft music or chanting of mantras, etc. Try out one by one and find out what would be an ideal environment for concentration and once that has been found, then focusing on any object or thing would be a child’s play.

4. Brain Feed:

As well as the Geniux pill, there are brain foods that help one to concentrate. These are:

  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
  • Take plenty of water as dehydration will not let us concentrate.
  • Take less white sugar and artificial sweeteners.
  • Take less refined carbohydrates.

  • Go for grass-fed meat as it has enough omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Take lots of nuts and avocados.

Sometimes things may be boring especially when we are in a class or a meeting, etc. What will we do if it is so badly not interesting, here are the tips:

  • Chew Gum: Chewing gums makes our mind relax from the boredom that is actually happening. It has been found in a study that gum actually improves the flow of oxygen to the brain that is responsible for attention.
  • Take Peppermints: Mints have the same effect as chewing gums.
  • Doodling: Doodle drawing actually exercises the brain and helps in focusing on the task that we are up to.

6. Sleep Well:

Have a good night sleep and this would enable us to focus well on any object or an issue.

7. Stay Hydrated:

As mentioned above, drink enough amount of water as dehydration will not let us concentrate.

8. Pomodoro Technique:

This technique was developed by an Italian student, and it is done in the following way:

  • Before starting remove all distractions around like switching off the phone, music, etc., and tell others at home not to disturb for 25 minutes.
  • Start focusing.
  • If the mind wanders, tell yourself that this is only for 25 minutes.
  • When done, walk around, have a drink, stretch yourself and then continue with the focusing for another 25 minutes.

Concentration and focus is not a joke, but if done carefully and in a proper way, nothing is impossible to achieve. So go for it!!!
